VW Polo Launch is the most expected event in Indian hatch segment.Today VW announced the pricing of  New Polo in UK.The New Polo booking started in UK and the delivery will start by second week of this October. The VW Polo’s new avatar packed with many features that we may not see in a hatchback.

VW Polo India in Launch

New Polo is have close resemblance with  VW Golf and is more safer and stylish than the current Polo. The electronic stabilisation programme(ESP) is part of standard equipment in all variants. The five door and three door variants are available. The five door variant will be coming by October 16 and by December UK will get three door variant.

VW New Polo Prices

The basic variant of VW Polo is coming with 1.2ltr 60PS engine is priced at £10,035.If you convert to equivalent INR, it is Rs.8lacs.Right now VW is offering five engine variants and one 1.2ltr TDI engine will be added in early 2010.The present engine variants are two 1.2ltr gasoline with 60PS and 70PS power options. The third gasoline engine comes with 1.4ltr capacity which can easily develop 85PS power. The diesel VW Polo have two engine variants too,the 1.6TDI is available in two power options 75 and 90PS.Another 1.2ltr TDI 105PS engine will join the club in early 2010.

The New Polo have four air bags,ABS and ESP are part of standard equipments and many high end options are available at extra cost. This additional features include Touchscreen Satellite Navigation,Digital Radio and Electronic Climate Control.Polo is available in four trim levels and an additional climate a/c option is available for those who need climate control.

To be honest we are bit disappointed.Recently we had read many articles preaching that VW Polo may priced at Rs.4lacs in India.Looking at above price lines we strongly doubt VW can launch the Indian Polo somewhere near Rs.4lacs.If VW is managed to do so there will be two scenarios,

1.A polo that is product of immense cost cutting measures and priced near Rs.4lacs.So we are sure now our readers will guess how the Indian Polo will perform in long term.

2.A replica of  ‘the super hatch’ Fabia, a lukewarm product from VW group. If the VW Polo pricing is in line with it’s UK sibling then another costly hatch after Honda Jazz.

      Dear Srikar,

Thanks for commenting in Wheelosphere. The exact pricing of VW Polo is yet to be known and it holds the key.Someone claimed the price range will start from Rs.4.25lacs which is unlikely. We expect the pricing of VW Polo will be somewhere near Rs.5-6lacs.Regarding the booking at Hyderabad, the schedule of booking will be announced in upcoming Autoshow.Till then we have to wait. Please subscribe to our daily news letter for further updates.
