VW Vento finally got a launch date, BS Motoring reports that VW India is planning to bring the sedan offering Vento on 06 July. Vento has been active topic here for the last few months. Probably we were the first Indian automotive blog to report about development of Polo Sedan for developing markets. Later we brought you the first set of Vento Sedan images without any camouflages. As we said earlier VW is planning to target New Honda City and Fiat Linea with the launch of Sedan variant of Polo Hatch.
VW Polo is a great value for money car but some complained about congested rear row seats. We are sure VW will address this concern with the launch of Polo sedan. The wheelbase of new Vento Sedan is longer by 50 mm comparing to hatch variant. The head room and shoulder room have been developed keeping an eye on New Honda City. We expect a sensible price tag on Vento, the initial price expectation ranges from Rs.7 lacs to 9lacs.
The Vento will get both diesel and petrol variants. The pot size could be same (1.6ltr) in both the variants with same horses (105bhp). The petrol power house could be the same one which is currently powering up Jetta (BSIII) here. While the 1.6 ltr common rail four cylinder engine will be the engine which propels VW Polo racing cars. Both manual and auto transmission options will be available. But we expect auto transmission will be available only with gasoline engine combination. Anyway we have to wait for another week to get the picture clear.
VW India will be assembling Vento in their Chakan Plant, where they make Polo and Fabia hatchbacks. Auto enthusiasts are watching this move with great interest but we think Honda and Fiat will be more watchful than the former crowd. Anyway at end of the day customer will be the beneficiary so wait for another eight days we will bring you more exciting news about Vento.
