Volswagen Vento Sedan

VW Group entered Indian subcontinent with a bang, i.e Polo Hatchback. Polo Hatchback bagged 5000 units booking within few months. Before the launch of VW Polo Hatchback we had reported that Polo Sedan version is also on the way. But now we have some more information, VW Polo Sedan will be christened as VW  Vento. The expected launch of VW Vento sedan will happen in July 2010, yeah that is not that far away!! Vento (code: VW251) saloon version sharing it’s platform with hatchback . The portion till B-pillar is exactly match with VW Polo hatch, though VW has opted for a different front grille and headlamps for Vento.

VW Vento third box has been fitted  at an extended length of 50mm so that  sufficient head room and legroom have been foreseen. The luggage trunk is expected to be 500ltrs which could be the top in class. VW designers have been used Honda City for benchmarking that means lots of other user friendly features will be bundled with VW Vento.

Vento will be coming with  gasoline and diesel engine versions both with same 1.6ltr pot size. The power output of the both engines are same (105bhp) but the torque output of  diesel motor has an edge over gasoline one. The  gasoline engine will deliver maximum torque of 15.8kgm which is way below the diesel motor’s 25kgm. Both the engines can be easily differentiated from their driving characteristics, like any other gasoline, diesel twins. The gasoline engine of VW Vento is advanced version of  VW Jetta engine. The engine which currently powering Jetta got two valves with single camshaft per cylinder but the proposed Vento engine got double overhead camshaft with four valves.

VW Vento will be heavier by 100kg than Hatchback. That means Vento will have excellent weight to power ratio.
