Wheelosphere Scoop – Mahindra World SUV caught production ready

These are the best spy pictures yet of Mahindra’s still under wraps World SUV codenamed W201. The pictures show a fully completed SUV unlike all the earlier pictures that actually show it without front bumper and head lamps. The SUV from the pictures is production ready and looks to be in its final evaluation stage. The red colour looks striking as are the wheels which remind us of the Chevrolet Volt. The trademark Mahindra radiator grille with seven slats is clearly visible under the camouflage as are the rear view mirrors with integrated turn indicators.

The stance looks muscular and the vehicle itself is large and might match the Captiva in terms of size although we feel that the Endeavour and Fortuner are half a class larger. Power will come from Mahindra’s own 2.2L CRDi engine, possibly renamed m-Vulture for this specific variant producing about 140+ bhp connected to an all new manual gearbox. An automatic gearbox mandatory if Mahindra has any idea of competing in USA.  Competing against the likes of the CR-V, Captiva and yet to be launched Tata Aria, the W201 is Mahindra’s first global model developed on a monocoque platform, a first for M&M. Mahindra will also base their all new mini-SUV on a shortened version of this platform. This SUV will propel Mahindra into new markets in Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Thanks so much for those photos, the SUV is very impressive looking. It has changed my decision of buying a Scorpio automatic. Will wait for its launch.
